Ever wondered what it feels like to shape something from Earth? This workshop is designed for those who wish to step away from the noise of the world and find focus at the pottery wheel. Specifically curated for beginners with no prior experience, this session offers a gentle, expert-guided introduction to the foundational language of clay. Clay Preparation: An introduction to wedging (the process of removing air bubbles) and how to scale and cut your clay to ensure it is ready for throwing. Wheel Mechanics: Understanding the equipment, including correct seating ergonomics, hand positioning, and how to control the speed of the pottery wheel. The Centering Process: A practical introduction to the most vital step! learning how to secure and align the clay in the middle of the spinning wheel. Basic Forms: An exploration of pulling techniques, where you will practice the coordinated hand movements required to raise walls and create a basic cylinder shape. Good to Know Once your session is complete. We handle the delicate transition from earth to art: a 960°C bisque firing, followed by a dip in transparent stoneware glaze, and a final 1200°C glaze firing. This high-heat "vitrification" ensures your piece isn't just beautiful, but food-safe, waterproof, and built to last. Patience is Part of the Process! Good things take time. Due to the drying and firing cycles, your work will be ready for pickup in 3 to 4 weeks. One piece is included in your workshop fee; fell in love with more of your creations?
