"Blind Mirror" art exhibition by Katarzyna Swinarska

Katarzyna Swinarska is a visual artist focused on painting, video art, and multimedia installations. She earned her doctorate from the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk in 2014.Her work examines female experiences through family stories, historical painting, fairy tales, and contemporary life, addressing female sexuality and corporeality with humor and irony. Her canvases range from vibrant pinks to darker, suffocating themes.In her video art, she explores artistic identity as a woman creator, reflecting on the struggles of other artists. Swinarska won the Grand Prize at the Gdańsk Art Biennale 2023 for Defiant Hearts and the First Prize at the IN OUT Festival 2016 for Digressive Identity, both in the collection of NOMUS / the National Museum in Gdańsk, Poland.
