DE: 2018 sind wir als 4lthangrund mit der utopischen Idee angetreten Kunst, Kultur und soziales Miteinander langfristig im Grätzel zu verankern. Unser Name greift dabei die Forderung „Stadt für Alle“ auf, und seit unserem Anfang bespielen wir das Althangrund-Areal. Durch die kontinuierliche Arbeit der letzten Jahre sind wir eine feste Konstante im Bezirk und in der Nachbar*innenschaftgeworden. Wir haben den Begriff „Kulturzentrum“ aufgegriffen und aus einem kleinen Raum ein großes Zentrum aufgebaut. Wir haben neue Räume geschaffen und alte zum Leben erweckt. Im Kulturzentrum 4lthangrund findet ein umfangreiches Kulturprogramm statt, wir stehen im Austausch mit unseren Nachbar*innen und unsere facettenreichen Zusammentreffen sind von einem kreativen Miteinander geprägt, aus dem spannendes Neues entsteht. Als Kollektiv schaffen und unterstützen wir so Vielfalt im Bezirk, welche auf einer stabilen Basis aufbaut. Als Kulturzentrum nutzen wir aktuell drei Orte – die Alte Mensa, die Wolke und die Außenflächen bei der Alten Mensa mit Bühne, Hütte und dem Garten. Wir bieten zahlreichen beteiligten Gruppen eine konkrete Perspektive solidarischer Raumnutzung: Büroräume sowie gemeinschaftliche Flächen für Treffen und Veranstaltungen. Seit Anfang 2026 haben wir Räumlichkeiten in 1090 | Nordbergstraße 8 (177m²) und 1200 | Romanogasse 28 (540m²). Wir sind ein als gemeinnütziger Verein organisiertes Kollektiv mit dem Ziel, kulturelle, soziale, nachbarschaftliche und solidarische Aktivitäten im Bezirk zu ermöglichen und Selbstorganisation zu fördern. Um unsere Veranstaltungen möglichst vielen Menschen zugänglich zu machen, sind sie alle kostenfrei oder auf freier Spendenbasis zugänglich. Oftmals stellen wir dabei gesellschaftlich marginalisierte Positionen in den Fokus und tragen damit zu einer Stadtgesellschaft bei, in der wir uns nicht nur „Althangrund für Alle“ ausmalen, sondern ein konkretes Ziel – „Wien für Alle“ – anstreben. Das Kulturzentrum 4lthangrund ist der Ort, an dem mit einer solchen solidarischen Perspektive experimentiert und bereits gelebt wird. Dies geschieht in spielerischer Form, jedoch ist dies manchmal auch sehr ernst und immer wieder eine sehr anstrengende und fordernde Aktivität. Doch gemeinsam machen wir möglich, dass diese Vision Realität wird, und bleibt. Wir haben auch einen kidzspAce eingerichtet, welcher als erster Schritt zu verstehen ist, neue Möglichkeiten zu schaffen, Partizipation von Menschen mit Kindern langfristig zu etablieren. Nachdem dieser nicht zu einer regen Teilhabe führte, startete der kidzspAce 2022 eine große Umfrage, was Kinder und ihre Caretaker brauchen, um am politischen Leben teilnehmen zu können. Dies mündete 2023 in die Erweiterung zum “kidzspAce act.if..”. Diese betrifft das politische Umfeld und deren Sensibilisierung für Bedürfnisse von Kindern, Jugendlichen und deren Caretakern, um politische Teilhabe und daran partizipieren zu können. Im Zentrum stehen Selbstorganisierung und Vernetzung, von dort aus lädt kidzspAce ein, sich mit den Inklusionsbestrebungen dieser Gruppe zu solidarisieren und zu vernetzen. ENG: In 2018, we started 4lthangrund with the utopian idea of anchoring art, culture and social interaction in the neighbourhood for the long term. Our name echoes the slogan ‘City for All’ and we have been organising events in the Althangrund area since the very beginning. Thanks to our continuous work in recent years, we have become a constant in the district and in the neighbourhood. We have taken up the term ‘cultural centre’ and turned a small space into a large centre. We have created new spaces and brought old ones back to life. The 4lthangrund cultural centre hosts an extensive cultural programme, we interact with our neighbours and our multifaceted get-togethers are characterised by creative interaction that gives rise to exciting new things. As a collective, we create and support diversity in the district, which builds on a stable foundation. As a cultural centre, we currently use three locations – the Alte Mensa, the Wolke and the outdoor areas near the Alte Mensa with the stage, hut and garden. We offer numerous participating groups a concrete perspective of solidary space utilisation: office space as well as communal areas for meetings and events. We are a collective organised as a non-profit association with the aim of facilitating cultural, social, neighbourly and solidarity-based activities in the district and promoting self-organisation. In order to make our events accessible to as many people as possible, they are all free of charge or accessible on a free donation basis . We often focus on socially marginalised positions and thus contribute to an urban society in which we not only imagine ‘Althangrund for all’, but also strive for a concrete goal – ‘Vienna for all’. The 4lthangrund cultural centre is the place where such a perspective of solidarity is experimented with and already lived. This happens in a playful way, but sometimes it is also very serious and always a very strenuous and demanding activity. But together we are making it possible for this vision to become and remain a reality. We have also set up a kidzspAce, which should be seen as a first step towards creating new opportunities to establish the participation of people with children in the long term. After this did not lead to active participation, the kidzspAce launched a major survey1 in 2022 on what children and their carers need to be able to participate in political life. This led to the expansion of the ‘kidzspAce act.if…’ in 2023. This concerns the political environment and raising awareness of the needs of children, young people and their carers in order to be able to participate in politics. The focus is on self-organisation and networking, from which kidzspAce invites young people to participate.
