LOTinConcert: Cancer House

26. Nov. 2026, 19:00 – 23:00 Das LOT, Absberggasse 31, 1100 Wien, Österreich About Melancholic downer slowcore of the Chicago quartet Cancer House makes its Vienna Debut The shadowy group Cancer House recently emerged with their debut album The Moth, released – alongside recordings by Perila, Ulla and Hysterical Love Project, amongst others – on one of Los Angeles’ leading independent labels, Motion Ward. Keeyan, Lily, Alex, and Whitney draw inspiration from the atmospheric guitar-driven post-rock of ’90s bands like Bark Psychosis, Hood, Farewood, Bedhead, and The Sonora Pine. However, this is not a nostalgic imitation, but a singular evolution of the iconic genre. Cancer House’s music crawls through a dim liminal space where echoes of post-hardcore, drone, noise and ambient blend with post-rock and slowcore tendencies into a dense yet minimalist whole, brimming with fragile tension that never fully resolves. In its omnipresence, this restless unease ultimately becomes a comforting anchor point on The Moth as well as the earlier Cancer House demo recordings. “A lot of the most somber music at the turn of the millennium was moving in its lo-fi recording quality. In its hi-def detailing, The Moth flips the script, ensuring immediate and constant immersion.” – Pitchfork Tickets: https://kupfticket.com/en/events/cancer-house
